As a songwriter, 'I Am The Bread'  has always been very close to me.  I've always described it as... "A sinner crying out to the Bread of Life".  Like an abandoned church in ruin, stripped of its altar, I was an empty sinner who came running back to the Faith, literally starving for the Eucharist.  Years ago, when I prayed for this song, I had just returned to the Church. I asked the Lord to give me a song that would help others come to believe in the  True Presence.  That prayer led me to Jesus' Bread of Life Discourse in Chapter 6 of John.  It is Christ's own words from the Bible that are both the title and the chorus to this song.
